The user is well-advised to read any program documentation and make a RELIABLE BACKUP before attempting any changes. Macs simply do not need "cleaning." (See for example: ) Some of these programs are notorious for being little more than malware. True experts in macOS maintenance advise against using any of them, because in general they serve little useful purpose and they can easily do more harm than good. Most of the developers' descriptions boast about what a great job they do, but the truth is, there are no good, comprehensive, head-to-head reviews of these programs by impartial 3rd parties. Many - probably the most accurate and honest - have negative reviews, by users who have been burned by them. Many have what look to be essentially fake 5-star reviews with no useful commentary. If you or a loved one been injured by a hip implant, you may be entitled to significant compensation for your injuries. If your concentration of cobalt or chromium is above normal limits, your orthopedist may order radiological testing to look for additional evidence that your hip device is suffering fretting or corrosion damage. If you have a metal hip implant, it is important that you undergo annual surveillance blood testing to determine whether you have elevated blood levels of cobalt or and chromium. The main treatment option is to undergo revision surgery to remove the components that are emitting cobalt and chromium. There is currently no effective adsorption or chelation therapy for cobalt or chromium. The Mayo Clinic describes levels equal to or greater than 5.0 ng/mL as toxic and levels greater than 10.0 ng/mL as indicating significant prosthesis wear with presumed substantial tissue destruction. Some studies report that a blood level of cobalt over 1.2 ng/mL and chromium over 0.8 ng/mL are elevated and require further investigation, especially if accompanied by a new onset of hip pain. Currently, there are differing opinions as to whether there is a safe blood level of cobalt and chromium beyond the upper range of normal. Is there a safe blood level of cobalt or chromium? The short answer is we don’t know. Chromium and cobalt are also both widely considered cancer causing in humans. Reports in the medical literature indicate that the systemic effects of metal ion toxicity can include neurologuical (fatigue, weakness, poor coordination, cognitive dysfunction, depression, vertigo, visual and hearing impairment, and peripheral neuropathy), hematological (polycythaemia), endocrine (hypothyroidism), and cardiac (arrhythmias and cardiomyopathy) complications. However, the systemic effects of metal ion toxicity from hip implants are less well known. The localized effects from cobalt and chromium poisoning are well documented and include pain, tissue damage, bone necrosis, pseudotumor and the need for revision surgery. When fretting and corrosion occurs, microscopic metal ions, particularly cobalt, wear off the components and are deposited into the surrounding hip tissue and bloodstream. Fretting and corrosion can occur at any metal-on-metal juncture in a hip implant system including the juncture between the femoral head and cup or the femoral head and femoral stem. Cobalt poisoning is a potential risk factor for anyone implanted with a metal hip device. Since then, putting up a Christmas tree inside your house during winter solstice celebrations has become a common practice in most countries of European descent. And, this is probably the reason why we have been using candles to decorate trees for centuries. In fact, the tradition of using candles to decorate trees for winter celebrations goes back all the way into pagan times. What many people don’t know is that – as a custom – what we now refer to as a “Christmas tree” did not originate from Christianity, but rather from German beliefs and customs about Winter Solstice. Eventually, Christmas trees started popping up all over England! Soon after that, bringing home an evergreen branch or tree to decorate for Christmas became a tradition across UK and Central Europe. Queen Victoria and her husband had a Christmas tree put up every year during the mid 19th century, and people began following this example. One can say that this tradition has its roots deep into the past, even before there was such as thing as “Christmas.”įor example, there is a 4000-year-old rock drawing from Scandinavia depicting a hunter who went out hunting reindeer by using holly wood spears – holly wood being used because holly trees stay green throughout winter and hunters believed that nailing such wooden spears into living trees would bring luck.īut it was German-born Prince Albert who popularized decorated trees in Britain at Windsor Castle. The Christmas tree was first mentioned in 1419, when residents of the town of Riga, Latvia decorated the cathedral with evergreens as a symbol of their love for Christ.īut the tradition of using evergreen trees during winter-time celebrations goes back to very early times in Northern Europe and Scandinavia. If you’re looking for Christmas tree ideas, you’ve come to the right place! They create a seasonal focal point that reflects both your personal style and your love of the Christmas Holidays. It can also be used as a cushion and rug, the favorite place of pets in winter, or use it next year.Beautiful Christmas Trees are the cornerstone of holiday decor.

My thinking wasn't as fast as yours so every single one of my farm animals dropped dead HAHA, such a shame. With my saves, villagers are still able to go into the pens to get animal produce (milk/eggs) so I doubt it's pathfinding. This is a pretty good workaround tbh, I might just start putting dumping piles in the pens and filling those with fodder instead. It's bloody annoying but I have a feeling that it's something to do with path finding. In many places I've had to remove doors just so settlers will go into watch towers etc. It seems, like the settlers, that there's some doors they forget how to use. The dogs then began to fill the troughs again. The cows thundered through the breach and ate their fill. To save the last two cows I knocked a hole in the wall of the fodder storage area where it adjoined the cow paddock. It turned out that their troughs were empty and no hay had been supplied either despite having a hay and fodder storage building where the dogs chose to sleep. I lost six at one go but managed to rescue the remaining two. Today I started getting notifications that my cows were dropping dead. Be extra attuned to the nightly low temps and do not harden off or transplant if freezing or near-freezing temperatures are predicted. A few days before planting them out, leave the peppers out all night to acclimate further. Increase the hours outside and sun and wind exposure each day. To harden them off, put your seedlings outside for a few hours a day in a protected location. What can you do to fix transplant shock? Transplant shock can be lessened by hardening off the transplants for a few days before planting into the garden. If the transplants were rootbound, this period of the establishment will take longer. A major reason for this is transplant shock – a period of time the plant takes to adjust to its new home before it starts actively growing vegetation.īefore the pepper can grow new leaves, it needs to establish its roots in its new soil. Peppers thrive as transplants, however, many times pepper transplants appear to do nothing after putting them out in the garden. Transplant Shock Transplantation shock can be avoided by hardening off seedlings a few days before planting in the garden. Pepper seedlings grow slowly and cannot tolerate any frost, so they need extra care indoors before planting out. Pepper seeds have specific germination requirements, and transplanting allows more control over the environment than directly planting seeds in the garden. Transplanting is standard practice for peppers in most climates, even in those with a long enough growing season to accommodate a pepper plant from seed to maturity. Most North American gardens do not have a long enough frost free season for a pepper seed to mature into a producing plant outdoors. Not Transplanting Pepper seedlings grow slowly and do not tolerate frost.ĭid you plant your pepper seeds directly in the garden when the soil warmed in spring and now they are not growing, or are growing painfully slowly? Peppers thrive when transplanted, rather than directly seeded into the garden. If using plastic or a humidity dome you may need to vent it occasionally to prevent moisture build up, and remove the cover promptly once the seeds have germinated. If you live in a dry climate where the soil mix dries out rapidly, it can help to cover the soil lightly with plastic wrap or a seedling dome to help retain soil moisture until the first seed sprouts. Check your pepper seeds daily and water them to avoid the soil from drying out completely while they are germinating and while the seedlings are small. Heating the soil means that the seedling soil dries out more quickly. Soil-heating mats (aka seedling mats) are an excellent, safe way to heat the soil and root zone of your pepper seedlings. How to fix slow germinating peppers? Before you start pepper seeds, plan ahead to provide a warm environment for your seed trays or soil blocks. Slow-growing seedlings tend to be weaker and more susceptible to diseases like damping off. If the soil is too cold, the seeds will either germinate very slowly or the seeds may rot and not sprout at all. Pepper seeds need warm soil to germinate, around 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit, and they can take from a week to 14 days to sprout. Growing peppers from seed is an exciting way to try new varieties, although it requires patience and attention. Soil is Too Cold to Germinate Pepper seeds will germinate from a week to 14 days. Most types of peppers are slow-growing, and sometimes it seems they are not growing at all! In this article, we look at the top reasons your peppers are not growing and how to fix it, from seed to maturity. For gardeners new and experienced, peppers can be a challenging crop to grow. With a bit of extra care, full sunlight, adequate water, and fertile soil peppers will thrive in your garden.
